I’m a great lakes surfer and in my hometown they manufacture gas powered surfboards called surf jets. Lauderdale Lakes in Elkhorn Wisconsin is where they make and test them. If anyone wants more info let me know and I could get ahold of em. The surf jets are pretty cool but not really anything like surfing because of the lack of waves 
PS Thanks to anyone that ever posted on hws wood boards because I made a pretty sweet one out of pine(poor college student with no money) attached would be a pic of my board if the file wasn’t so big and if I was better with computers
