As I have mentioned before, I am attending a pre-Emmy event called the “Style Lounge”. I will be giving away two of the KOLSTOF hollow carbon fiber surfboards to selected actors. My problem is that since I started making the boards, I never watch TV. I have no idea of who would be the best candidate for the boards would be. Any USEFUL suggestions??? I know…I’ll get all kinds of suggestions, but I thought I’d ask anyway…Should it be a drawing? Someone from the “OC”? Desperate Housewives? Maybe work out some kind of trade? I kinda like that idea! HELP!! Time is running out!!
Why don’t you give me one of those boards, I’m sure after surfing one for a little while I can better suggest which star will appreciate it
Jokes aside, If you’re doing it for media coverage I have a better Idea: an auction. And after Katrina it shouldn’t be hard to figure where to put the money that comes out of it (but then again there are other choices)
Let’s face it, those people are already rich beyond decency, they don’t need free stuff (although they enjoy it), but the auction can accomplish several things at the same time:
-Give exposure to the product
-Make the star that wins the auction look good (his/her agent will love this) because of the charitable aspect.
-Create a fun/exciting moment (Vegas would not exist without this mindset)
-Money to people who needs them (and taken out of pockets that are too full anyway)
I plan on having a board there for all of them to autograph, and having an auction is a great idea! Now how do you auction something like that off? e-Bay?
Jay Leno has been having guests sign a Harley which is being auctioned on EBay. Of course, he has a chance to plug it every night so lots of people know.
The Emmy thing is a one night shot and time is always at a premium as everybody from the grandparents to the postman gets thanked for each actor’s success.
Will the board presentation be televised? If so, any high profile award winner would do. I wouldn’t begin to know who will be in attendance.
Well…the dark haired kid on the OC has a Rusty minigun propped up in the corner of his room. 2 possibilities there: its a paid placement, or some prop guy just went out & bought a board. If you could get it swapped out for one of yours, you’d get a hell of a lot of exposure. But I have no idea if this kid will win, or is even nominated.
For the other one, I’d give it to Terri Hatcher. She just seems like she might actually even be game to try it out. I hope that’s not all an act, I like the personality she projects.

I may see if I can contact Ellen DeGeneres and have her plug it on her show for the auction. I understand that she has family that was impacted by Katrina, and has been active in fund raising. What about the Surfriders Assn?
I still plan on giving at least one board away, but still no definitive person as yet. Terry Hatcher would be good, but don’t know if it would get surfed or just be a wall hanger. The list I have doesn’t show anyone from the OC attending the event that I am doing, but there could be a number of walk in celebrities…who knows…
Today was “set up day” and there were a number of actors that came through, and I understand that Friday and Saturday will be crazy! Should be fun…
