Epoxy Longboard Fin Box?

Go ahead and use epoxy?

I have put in a couple of fin boxes with RR epoxy. Worked OK but I suggest getting the epoxy poured as soon as it is mixed in order to keep the exotherm down. The first time I used it, I mixed it and kept it in the mixing container a little too long before pouring the finbox. The thing got so hot I was worried that I was going to ruin the board. Ended up wetting down a sponge to draw heat off the deck side of the board.

given the average amount used in a fin box, will epoxy get pretty hot? Can’t I just use some poly??

It doesn’t get too hot if you mix and pour, don’t wait too long to pour.

First off, what is your blank made of, EPS or poly? If EPS then you need to use epoxy.

I asked a similar question about the epoxy vs standard lam resin here:
