I just went back and read the whole thread. I'm learning all about the whole Vac Bag wood skin stuff. If I'm doing Wood you are going to see Wood. Wood is much more work for me...I like colors...........
I'm a little confused why a person would want to cover Wood with abstarct art......not an insult, but people really like wood boards.....
Thank you ETMO....I'll get there one day....
And for GregTate....Head high +... Carlsbad Beach break. The young man is a good friend and a very good surfer. He breaks things....Too bad he came home without the nose.............

i'm on it with the "show your tints" thread - some awesome stuff
i have made three wooden boards and love them. I have two foam boards (an early 1990's clark foam thruster and a bilbo egg with blue swirl finish). wood is a gorgeous material to work with, but while working on the current wood one it was looking bit "traditional" - i tried to move away from the stripe look with the big Boco-Rio fish to do something different and went diaganol with the decks. i'm using really cheap construction timber again and just want to see how the colour interacts - what the hell, it would be different.. surely wood can be abstract? I'm not really into the whole inlay/marquetry thing and have considered doing a "flintstones" type woody by exagerating the grain with a marker pen. Huck has done some great painted wooden boards, that green one was awesome.
i'm ordering pigment on payday, so if poly translucent pigments work in epoxy then thats the plan. one way or another its going to happen
