eps block

Hi all

I am trying to get hold of a board sized block of eps in the UK, 2000x700x200 mm, have tried some wholesalers and just got quoted £135 + vat!!! and they knew nothing of grades or bead type, packing etc… Anyone know where I might get some at a sensible price? I remember seeing some sheets in a B&Q store, but they seemeed a bit thin and I don’t want to join sheets if I can help it. If all I could get were 25mm sheets, would it be feasable to glue and vacuum three sheets on a rocker table and for them to hold the shape with no spring back? If so has anyone tried ‘expanding polyurethane’ glue to join sheets (light and no hard glue line to interfere with shaping)? I know that it works with blue styrofoam.

Any help will as usual be appreciated

Cheers

Mark

That is kind of expensive. I paid about the same(incl. vat) for a 2400x600x1200mm block and that was shipped about 500 kilometers. Check with building supplies companies for building industry or roads, they sometimes use these blocks as landfill. Also check with the manufacturers of EPS in the UK, there sure has to be some. I hate gluelines in the blank when shaping, if you can get a big block it’s a whole lot better.

markyv,

check this site: http://www.ecboards.co.uk/index.htm and look under “Preparation - what’s required / Core Materials” and he talks about getting EPS in the UK. You might also try and email him for supply ideas.
