EPS - Compressive/Flexural Strength

I’m looking to start building my own blanks using EPS insulation blocks. Could anyone give me acceptable value ranges for compressive and flexural strength for the foam? Also, if anybody has had success with this and could refer me to a specific EPS foam product, I would greatly appreciate it.

I used to know the numbers and I beleive 1.5 lb. eps was in the 15-18 lb per sq, in. range. We now use 2# density which is quite a bit better than that but I don’t have the numbers. The foam we use is from an EDRO machine and is produced here in fl. Where are you located? There should be a good foam available somewhere close.

I am located in NJ. If you know of any good foam manufacturers or distributors up this way please let me know. Thank you.

Look in the yellow pages under insulation. Also go to the library and look in Philly, Newark, and NY phone books. Their should be a number of manufacturers in that area.
