Hey Guys
Just went to a supplier in Sydney looking at some EPS foam for a SUP.
The guy said that he does EPS for surfboard regularly and recommended his medium density foam.
Now, his medium density or “M” grade is at 19 kg/m3.
By my calculations, that is only around 1lb/cu ft.
Don’t think thats enough for a 11’6" SUP
His grades only go up to 28 kg/m3 which is still under 2lb/cu ft and it is getting very pricey at that density.
Firstly, are my calculation right??
Also, do you think the “M” grade will be dense enough.
Don’t want to pay double if I don’t have to.
Cheers

Your calculations sound bang on to me. Try Bondor. Density goes up to 28kgs as well but it is cheap and shapes quite well.
Hey Deanbo
What is Bondor? Do you know who supplies it?

Here’s the web address for the NZ website bondor.co.nz . They have offices in Australia as well. VH grade is what I use.
Thanks Deanbo, I’ll look them up.

Hey Deanbo.
Rang up bondor here in Sydney.
They don’t sell EPS blocks.
They only sell panels sanwiched between metal for coolrooms etc.
Cheers

Strange, unless there are two completely different Bondors in NZ and Oz. Bondor NZ is part of James Hardie products if that is of any help.

Iv got sheets from bondor of 18kg/m for free… 200 x 2400 x 1200, its their cover sheets which have glue crap on both sides which doesnt matter at all, and they have to pay for recycling it so they are more than happy to part with it…
I like 16 kg foam, have not broken any of my supas yet. The Aus suppliers always tell you that they go to 28 kg, but you can only get max 24 kg. Keep in mind that PU is around 30kg for regular surfboard foam.
