What if you do a lap with a single layer in clear, wait until it is gelled and then put a layer of cloth with the resin tint?
Seems like it would be a little more work and probably more weight, but would make it a consistent color…

The Low Tech Lab has never done what you have suggested. Please continue with your testing and post photos. The people building boards at the Lab are interested in your results.
At this point in time the Low Tech Lab has discovered that many surfers prefer the "raw look". The imperfections in the foam are often considered a good thing...and a quality Tint job highlights the "Raw Look". I did not make this up. We have two boards in the Low Tech Lab right now with resin color work. I'm looking at every last little flaw and people are telling me how awesome the color looks...even to the point where the pock marks in the foam make the color work look better....

three to five coats of clear over filler of q-cell and poxy
should make the surface perfect enough for Trans - anal industries
certified tint lam.be sure to add the full 2 0z. jar of tint
and strain
mix all the resin for both sides
and split the resin in 1/2
and take 1/2 of one 1/2
for the hot coat on the single layer side
so the tint matches perfectly.
one portion for each side
and hot coat the bottom up to the tint
lap and hot coat the top and bottom
with clear after that.
There will be a panel of critix
to show up in your dreams
to harangue your restless sleep
brow beating your sensitivities
into depression.
