Equation for amount of resin needed

Listen to Greg.

Mix up batch. Do half the board stringer right side.

Then mix up more.  Do the stringer side left.

Your board will come out lighter and stronger.

Your tiny board is no match for mine. And will turn out perfect if you heed this advise

1600SSFishing SUP

Jonmellor you were right on with the amount equation that you gave me. To the rest of you thank you guys as well for your inputs. I shaped and completed my first ever epoxy SUP . 12’x 32’’ . Ended up using two layers of 6oz. on deck and bottom. I used jonmellor equation that he gave me and times it by 1.25 and it gave me the right amout for that glass schedule with just a bit extra maybe 4ounces to go back and hit the bubbles and dry patches on the lap. Let me tell ya, I was so nervous working with epoxy for the first time that my hands were shaking. Haha I had to remember to breath and calm down and take my time. What made me even more nervous was the fact that this first board was for my brothers rental business so messing up was out of the equation. I informed him that I wanted to try it on another board that was going to be for sale but he insisted that I could pull it off and so I did. I used the slow hardener for the lam and mixed fast with slow for the hotcoat. I used the Fast and Final spackle as recommended by many. For now I will continue to use slow on lam and mix slow/fast for hotcoat till I get completely comfortable with the process. 12’ is such a beast to work with as for my experience. After said and done came out pretty good. No sticky patches or cloudy’s . Definately learned a few things to do different next board. Next board will definately be easier and less nervous. Learned real fast that over spray of airbrush is a no no . EPS foam does not soak up extra paint. haha a few runs needed fixing and had to touch up paint edges with a gray posca pin line because the tape I used that I normally used on poly boards didnt want to stick to the SUP that well. Next time better sticking tape is for sure. A special thank you to Sam Barker and Greg Loeher at Resin Research for the epoxy resin. Sam was great when I went to get the resin. Spoke about a hour with him at his shop and gained some new knowledge from him. Awesome guy. Thanks fellas and Swaylocker’s for the help.
