Even a snowbound mountie can ....

Hey man, Greetings from the Great White North. I finally finished, after 7 months of working on the board. It’s 9’4", 23.5" at the widest, 41lbs, 3.5" nose rocker, very slight convex deck, 10.5" fin box. The emblem is the “Joshua Tree” off U’2’s album. I finished as you recommended , with the polyester over epoxy. It came out a little bit heavy, but I was restricted by the materials I could get up here: 3/16 " plywood instead of 1/8, fir strips instead of Balsa, and the biggest thing → 1/8 " cork rather than 3/16ths took 11 laminations which meant about an extra 1/2 gallon contact cement. I’d estimate 250 - 300 hours to build it (a large portion spent trying for the perfect finish). I’m pretty happy with the board though → as you can see, the surf’s not very good this time of year, so I’m sending it to my buddy in Washington. I’ll send a print to you through the mail. Thanks for all your help. Your website is awesome → even a snowbound mountie can build a surfboard in the middle of nowhere. Take Care, Rollie Smith

Paul (and Rollie), i wish i had the patience and skills to make such a good work.

I know someday i’ll try something like that.

That kind of work is the essence of this forum, at least, that’s what i think.

Keep giving us this kind of inspiration!

Paul, thanks for posting the pictures of this board and the British one. Great work!Perhaps Rollie should next look into seeking a transfer to the west coast of Vancouver Island. Several of the members surf. Patrick

Truly inspirational!

Longboard snowboarding. What a concept.
