EVEN RESIN TINTS

Tried my second transparent tint the other day. Not bad. the deck and bottom came out very even in color tone. this pleased me. However the rails were quite blotchy and uneven. This upset me. Am I correct to say that where the blotchiness is is due to an uneven amount of resin in the glass? I triesd to pull nice tight passes with the squeegie to evnly ditribute the resin as best I could. I was using the UV cure with only a rather light transparent green tint. Other than repetition and practive, any pros out there with some hints for the rails? thanks in advance

i have the same problem. I also have dark spots where i cut the glass for > lapping the nose and tail. any tips? Try and solicite some help from Clay Bennet. He checks this site fairly regularly. His work is quite note worthy. He tends to resurect the lost skills of the past with some really cool resin color work in the lamination of which a large part is tint. Good resource! JC

Hmm, wish I had an e-mail for him, or I suppose that I should ask that if he would even mind me contacting him about the matter. thanks for the info>>> Try and solicite some help from Clay Bennet. Thanks for the contact info ed. Much appreciated. Hopefully Clay will be > open to som stranger seeking out is advice. Do you know where he is > located? Drew, Clay is in Atlantic Beach. Right next to Jacksonville Bch. His shop is located just west of Aqua East on Atlantic Blvd. right before the overpass to Mayport. Go to his website, I think there is a link with directions and map if you aren’t familiar with the area. Tell him you heard about him on Swaylocks, and that should open up the door for ya. While he won’t tell you all his secrets, he will answer any questions you might have. Also, if you need any supplies, he can hook you up with those too. Good luck. http://www.claybennettsurfboards.com
