Just to show how not to go about it…Yesterday,I retrieved my 6 yr old’s Razor scooter from some young teenies down the block…of course they gave it up w/o trouble…but when one of there father’s came out and started in on me.he stopped and said,"H-HERB ? is that you? Then he quickly grabbed his wannabe gangstar son by the arm and said,“You don’t know crap you idiot!He use to kick my ass for the same things I’m going to kick your ass for”.
Funny how life goes around.
Herb !----------- You my friend are what is comminly call a “CLASSIC”. Paul ----I catch occasional post, threads and comments about you on another NW site plus here. I enjoy you and your knowledge, expertise etc. throughly. I know that doesn’t do much to ease the pain and shock when you have lost a van,boards,camera etc. but my prayers and thoughts are with you my brother.

once in SF I snapped a leash and lost my Hickey with the rotating fin in it.
There’s hundreds and hundreds of SF surfers that recognized the board. It found its way back to me easily - too unique for anyone else to try to take.
The same is true of your boards. No one can take them to any surfing beach without being discovered.
The van will probably find its way back too…just hang in there, and don’t buy a replacement for a month b/c it will probably come back before then.

They’re very unique distincive boards, they will get found or spotted. I can’t see how anyone would be able to surf them without getting noticed and thay have your name on them.
I doubt they could be sold on with out the owner realising they were stolen either, but it might be a good idea to email the surf the local shops with pics of the boards.
I hope you do get them back, let us know when you do.
Wow!! Paul did this happen right after we talked? or what. Nobody can surf those boards from boarder to boarder with out being busted! LETS FIND THEM!!
Paul , Swaylocker Florian had the same van ripped with boards wetsuits everything , gone for 2 weeks , they find it 2 blocks away everything in it.
Would I prefer to not have lost that stuff…???..Yeah…

The things stolen are excesses in my life of abundance…
Abundance in the things of true value…Love…Health…Friends…Quality work…etc…etc…etc…
I still have two boards to ride, and I know how to build replacements…
Sure the lost boards represent an investment of time and money, but I don’t really look at them as that…
Didn’t Lopez once say something like " If you can buy it, it’s really not worth much" or something like that…???..
My solen wetsuit was a 4/3 and I was going to switch to a 5/4 wetsuit next month anyway…
My camera can be replaced, in fact everything stolen is replaceable…
They are just things…
The missing boards are my 5’6" HWS bellyboard…My 8’7" HWS pointbreak board…A 7’4" Liddle Smoothie with a peacock painted on the deck…Rewards, of course…

Once you know who there are ,or more importantly, they know who you are…they stay a goodly distance away…a couple of them in my area just disappeared…hummm…wonder what happened to them…the Pole-lease are puzzled?

My in laws live in Tahuya, WA. You might know where that is. My father in law left his Suzuki Samurai hooked up to his boat trailer with his 14’ aluminum skiff on board one night. Woke up in the morning to find the whole works gone. A few hours later, the Belfair Police called, they found it all, off the road at the end of the Canal down in some reeds. Outboard & crab pots gone, but everything else was just about fine. My brother in law went down to claim it & help with the winching… and to this day the Belfair PD calls Jim “Son of Samurai”.
