I was around when these guys were developing and producing boards that changed at the same rate as IT and technology today…sat convention on it’s arse !!!
It’s not just a thread on the progress of a new board, but a glimps into the principles/DNA of where they came from.
Don’t know if you know what you’ve started here, but it will run deeper than what you think !!!
Anyway, it goes without saying … don’t do a half arsed job, the ancients are watching keenly
Lennox, say hi to Brock from Dan Crockett, Andrew’s cousin, and tell him the star fin he gave me goes great in Irish point waves. He mayn’t remember, was a fair while back.
I just read it again, and anyone that likes esoteric craft (the title of a blog I named but never did anything with, BTW) should see it now (Kirk Gee?)
Hey Janklow, it’s from a few years back. I’d just come off an incredible year in Australia really learning so much. There was a form one a bit before that had way more love lavished on it. http://thisrichtapestry.blogspot.com/ - something I started and never went far with. I really enjoyed reading your blog, it seems we share a few friends/aquaintances.
By the way, can I reserve a copy of Ether from you?
Custom boards are the way to go. usually a 4 week wait but who cares , the cost is the same as a stock board. you get nearly what you ask for ,there is always the shapers twist. that is why if I buy a board I go custom. My last was a wayne lynch, before that an outerIsland. great shapers . the lynch had a long wait but that doesn’t matter in the end. For a guy from far northern nsw to get a brock that is like going home for christmas. good stuff.
ANZAC day tommorow the 25th. think of our brave young men and women who are deployed overseas, and those who wont come back
WHATEVER happened to the photos and video you said you'd show ???? ... PLEASE , mate ?!
I , too, REALLY enjoyed the footage in 'Believe' of Chris carving at Lennox , well into his fifties , on some really FUN looking boards , and marcus aboody ripping the bag out of it , also on Brock stubbys !!! [as Chris says in that dvd ..."he reminds me of me [chris] when I was his age " [as they do a nice footage overlap of him in "Morning of the earth " , at lennox ...
please ,
lennox 76 ,
years on ....
tell us HOW that board went , how it's holding up , and have you ridden a few more Brocky stubby boards , since ??
hey Ben....lennox is mostly riding my boards these days...riding quadfathers and his feedback in the early days had alot to do with getting this design right... can check em out at www.moresurfboards.com sorry bout the plug... there is footage of him there, click on the Quadfather link, Vimeo .....Dunno if he still has the eggy shape, but I am interested in these shapes too, never really got into em but its one of the few things I havent really tried or shaped....one way to fix that....
I like that footage too, Marcus Aboody surfs well......
from a september 9 , 2007 [!!] post by lennox , on this thread HE started !!
[you know what they say about ..."don't start something that you can't fin..."]
" When I have the board in hand i'll take it out and ride it and post photos and videos : the "proof" or otherwise of how the board works....." [continued below]
...well ???
It's been just a wee while now , jimmeee !!
with two and a half years behind you , you must have a few pics and vids to share , perhaps ??
"....Why? because it's fun and maybe someone out there will benefit from the shared experience...... "
YEP ! Ireckon that I would be that 'someone' , len76 !! [and i'm sure PLENTY of others too, perhaps ? ...there are , after all , apparently over 10,000 humans on this here surfboard DESIGN forum ....
