Facebook page

Hi guys,
I hope I’m not breaking any forum rules by annoncing that I’ve created a Facebook page called Backyard Surfboard Builders. It was in no way created to compete with Swaylocks for I have the utmost respect for this site having been a member here since almost the beginning. I just felt that having something in the social media would be good to have as another vehicle to exchange ideas. Theres barely anything on it right now but hopefully someone while chime in to help get It going.

well foamdust you have done good job.

but whenever you are not giving any good topic for discussion so,why people visit your page.

On this forum we all share our knowledge .but on facebace page we cant do the samew thing because on this most of the persons are mastres in their field nad daily give ansers or revies of anyone’s questions and on facebook page only adult or teen persons are active not professional ones.

Sampeeter,

What did you just say?

Resinhead you a brave man!! I got royally condemned and abused for setting up the shortlived page called Friends on Swaylocks (which I see is still there)!

My idea was to have a more social site rather than the wonderfully surf orientated Swaylocks. People seemed to thik I was hijacking Sways’ which was not the intention!

Ive joined that page, lol, its enjoyable to see the boards that come up and what people are doing, in no way does it attempt to do what sways does so I see no harm there.

I joined also. I look at it as “Swaylocks on Facebook”. All of this is in fun.

I can remember many years ago when Swaylocks got going a lot of industry folks were pissed. When Jim Phillips and I did the Master shaper/glasser videos we were called out for sharing secrets.

Backyard builders have become a major source of income for places like Foameze and Surf Source. I can remember the time when you couldn’t buy a blank from Clark Foam unless you had a business license.

Now with the rise of Sways and Utube anybody can get the info to build a ridable board. Back when I started nobody would show you diddly.

Can non-shapers join? Too late I am in!

hopefully its more pictures with less gab

at least it looks that way for now

plus facebook handles all the normalizing of pictures so there’s no load time issues.

maybe convert it to instagram like Ryan Burch’s instagram bobbers and sinkers

good on you , foamdust … it’s a  GREAT idea !!!

let’s hope it stays a facebook ‘site’  dedicated to  photos minus the bullshit … a topic very dear to my heart !
