Almost two years ago, I made this 8’4" for a good friend of mine, Eric. He lives on the Basque coast but works abroad for a petro-chemical company or something like that. About two months down in Africa and then four to five free weeks back in France. He took the board with him to Congo as it seems there are some good beach breaks down there…
As the locals there don’t have many surfboards to play with, my friend often lends his for them to ride a few waves… And then, the other day, as he’s driving back to work, he suddenly notices a big ad sign by the side of the road and something catches his eye:
“No?” he wonders in disbelief, “Could it be mine?” Driving nearer:
Oh yes it is…
Now, I may not be well known outside my little area, but I’m famous in Congo, at least… lol… And what’s more, “connected to the world”, too… (“connecté au monde”).
Great looking board. The billboard doesn’t do the gloss & polish justice. What are they advertising?: “Come to the Congo and surf–Look at the beautiful surfboards we have!”
