have a longboard with a fairly strong glass job except for the problem of these circular 'dings’that are appearing along the stringer where my front foot is placed . these are happening on both sides of the stringer and are becoming rampant. circular rings are about 2 1/2 " dia.
is this a case of resin mixed with acetone to thin it during the glassing? whats the prognosis? how to fix, theyre fairly widespread. thanx
You didn’t say if there was denting in addition to the cracks. If these are on or close to the stringer without dents, it may be that the gloss or hotcoat was over catalzyed making the glass brittle. If there was denting, it could be overshaped foam, previous water damage, boney feet, etc; there are a lot of causes. You can fix them by sanding, applying styrene, filling with sanding resin, and sanding flush. Put a layer of cloth over the whole mess if you want. You may want to consider a front LB traction pad also.
thanks , i figured that it was glassing issue, there isnt any typical denting with the rings. no bony feet here. The clown who who i dealt with for customer service even suggested that it was from my chest due to paddeling ,WTF!!!
I agree with Kokua, overshaped blank. The only time I’ve ever had that experience was with those circumstances. It also led to a pretty bad delam (wish I would have sold the board), that was the last factory board I purchased 3 years ago.
