FCS fin set for bigger guy.

have any of you found a fin set (FCS) that works well for you? I weight 205 and will be putting them on a 6’6 thruster. The shop gave me a set of clear fins with no print on them, which seem to have a lot of flex. I’m thinking that maybe a set of more rigid fins might give the board a little more drive. good reasoning?

Yeah good reasoning…Oneula’s got it…TC Redlines are popular…I use Rusty’s a lot. Flexible fins can be forgiving tho…sometimes in certain conditions and riding styles they can be advantageous. But for the most part they might feel too ‘mushy’.

all this time i thought i was just kooking it

but the plastic g5 fins were so puss

i built some 12mm thick ones scaled up 10mm al over from a k fin

the difference was marvelous!

and that was with my dodgy foiling!

i still dont think fcs have got it sorted for big guys at an imtermediate level

the bigger ones are too retro

and i dont like the small tips on the T C s

im guessing the carbon light sunny Garcias might do the trick

otherwise im going custom all the way baby!!!

flex fins feel nice in cutbacks

and releasing of the top

but thats it imo

one thing i hate is babying a board through a bottom turn when the surf gets overhead

what a drag!

its a real setback and can ruin a good session

i hardly get a chance to rider bigger surf

and when i do

i dont want to waste it messing around with rubbish fins

i just ripped the bottom off the min gun

decided it was a dog

i want control

but i want it to surf like a shortboard

so im just turning it into a rounded pin@ 6 6

and see how it goes

i still think that a bgt is a better option then a mini gun

but then again i dont surf any bigger than 6 ft

maybe in a good point break with a channel it would be sweet

but as yet when ive seen it big it looked either

closey outy or hard to get out or just downright ugly

theres a few spots around here that can handle the size so who knows

maybe in the future

make your own , and you can try whatever outline / rake / base and depth YOU prefer .

wod core or foam core or solid fibreglass …I LOVE 'em all .

…but then , as Shane ‘kiricore’ says , I just ‘may’ have a fin fetish . [I certainly like finnish ladies , the few that I have met ! boom boom ]
