Gonna switch over to the fusion boxes. On my short boards with 3/16" single concave, I’m assuming I should go with the 6 degree cant boxes. Am I getting it right? I typically aim for about one inch of distance difference between rear base and rear tip of side fins. I’m going after drive not lift.
Pat,
I would also give consideration to Pro-Box. They accept fcs and you gain the advantage of some front to back adjustment in addition to the variable cant inserts: 0-4-6-8 degrees.
Worth checking out. www.proboxhawaii.com
If you’re back on the island, I have the install jigs and router bit and some side boxes if you want to give it a try. Who’s doing your glassing these days?
Will be in Nosara next week for a couple of weeks…
Pete
If your concave was deeper, I'd say definitely go with the 9 degree.
My advice would be to buy both, route the cavities, and ''test fit'' both the 6 and 9. Measure and see which you like. BTW, I still do that old-school measure-the-tip-to-tip thing also, good trick!
I generally use the 9 on my (slightly deeper) concaves, and the 6 on flat or slight V
Pete - thanks for the offer but my blanks are glassed in San Diego now, was supposed to leave for Nosara in a few days but the mother-in-law got sick, am in the mountains now.
Mike - thanks for the info, I was afraid those boxes would be ‘inbetween’ for 3/16, may have to go to 1/4".
