fcs plug install

Haven’t used my kit in some time and today I see the putty has dried out and doesn’t stick, so I went looking for a substitute but didn’t really find anything good. I wound up using Dap blue tac and masking tape but it wasn’t as good as the putty - any idea’s on what that putty is? or any ideas on alternate ways ? The trailing fin is no problem as I use a big spring clamp - it’s the side fins with the cant that are tricky - hate having one fall after I walk away. Also I’m away from any source of surfboard resin so I’m tempted to use some 3m poly boat repair resin - it’s brown but  I don’t care about the color - I never use pigment in the plug installs anyway. Any feedback appreciated.

Marine epoxy will be fine, if you don’t care about looks. Never tried 3M poly. Stabilize your fin or jig with plumbers putty and masking tape.

Checked out plumbers putty in the store but it didn’t seem sticky like the old stuff.

Hey Pat,

How about modeling clay or kid’s clay?

Howzit patrick,If things haven't changed over the years it used to be modeling clay ,if you are talking about what holds the jigs in place while the resin or epoxy dries.Aloha,Kokua
