few random questions

What do you finish off your surfboard blanks at (sand paper grit wise) does cold weather effect the resin as fas as not wetting out the cloth well and just making the lam process a nightmare? Are there any companys or shops that will fiberglass your finished blank?

Any surfboard glassers that will glass your blanks in San Diego area or the South Tx area

Thanks in advance

Finish them as smooth as possible with 220 sanding SCREEN or finer.  Plenty of glass shops both in Texas and San Diego will glass your finished blank for anywhere from a low $180-----$250… shortboard

150, then a final light sanding at 220

I have not experienced that

sometimes it can delay the setup / cure time.   I use epoxy resin, and it likes a warmer room temp.

yes, most pro shapers use a glassing shop, you can too.

yes

Thanks guys!

sharp changes in themperature WILL effect the lam process though - if you start glassing and kick off the resin for 75* and then the temp suddenly drops to 40-50* while the resin is curing, you’re screwed. I had a buddy who was glassing about 100 fins for the company he was contracted for - they needed to be done next-day so he did them all at once. The temp dropped overnight while they were curing and all kinds of disasters happened - the glass lifted in places, formed bubbles, and in some places didn’t even dry. Needless to say he ended up losing that contract and walking away from it with 100 some-odd useless fins
