Fibreglass layers

I’m shaping a 9’1" for me. I want this board to be a really light board I don’t care the deck to be dented. And I was wondering what will be the minimun fibreglass layers to use on it? DECK: 6 oz? BOTTON: 4 oz? Too fragile? In the last one I made I used: DECK: 6 oz + 6 oz BOTTON: 6 oz With glass+polish, but it was too heavy.

How about a 4/6 deck and a 4 bottom? Check the archives, I think Jim Phillips may hav given advice on this not to long ago. Happy Thanksgiving, Scott.

Posted is a previous question and answer I found in the archives, Scott.>>> what would the est. weight dif. in 10 ft. board with 4 oz. bot. and 2 4 > oz. top compaired with same but 6 oz. thanks. I have a 9 footer that is classic weight foam with a 4 oz. bottom and a double 4 deck. The deck is dent free after nearly 2 years, but I would recommend using a 6oz. for the bottom. I have built more than a few all 4oz. boards for my self, but the draw back is I have buckled or broken all of them! The classic foam is much stronger than blue or green, I don’t find much of a weight difference going with the classic. A blue or green all 4 is going to be lighter, but after a few repairs or fixing a broken board it is moot.
