in your public profile. Obviously, it’s not required, but it would be really cool to get a sense of geographic range of swaylock’s members…
Hey Mike!
Ya know I filled it out the other day, but whe I look at it now all the fields are empty.
Do I need to do it again or is it just logged somewhere?
Mahalo
Ditto, i did the same with the same result.
Cheers
SynergyTodd & Beerfan,
Uh oh. That’s weird. Could be related to the problem LeeV reported here.
So just to confirm, you filled out your bio info, you saw it in your profile – then you went back to edit the profile again and it was gone? Or it just disappeared on its own?
Can you try filling out your profile again (sorry for the hassle – perhaps you can save what you write in another location just in case) and try to reproduce the problem and report back?
Hey Mike…can’t remember for sure…but I think it did show up in my profile…not positive on that though.
I’ll fill it out again
I think I’m the only one, besides you, that has any info on their info page and I was thinking about deleting the stuff, just because…well just because, you know, if no one else is taking out their toys to play, I’ll take mine home…
I don’t understand why no one puts up the info. I think it gives dimension to posts, makes a user name human, but that’s me. I also like to know what qualifications the person giving me advice has. Like myself. If I was someone else I’d be fairly skeptical of my advice because I don’t have that much experience, whereas I have to respect people making boards every day for their living. Lucky bastards.
llilibel – Not to worry, you’re not the only one who has filled out their profile. In fact you can track who has filled out their info by going to the member directory and looking at that “Search by Profile Stats” on the right. I’ve noticed those numbers going up slowly but surely. I do notice you haven’t provided your location. Are you having problems with that form field
Mike
It says “all fields are optional”…but when I hit submit I get a big red block that tells me “field is required”
Same here. And, it doesn’t say WHICH goddam field is “required”.
One funny thing…I entered Southern New England as my location, and the map displayed South Africa. Love that Google Maps!!!
Same problem for me too.
To all having this “field required” problem try this as a work-around.
Edit your profile, but fill out only ONE field – for example “Surfing Since.” Save. Then go in an edit some other fields.
Please let me know if that works…
Also, can you please tell me your Platform(mac/pc) and browser…
Worked ok so far. Do we go in a raffle for a griffin 5 finner or something now??. Can i use my points as cash??
Just dreaming away haha.
Hopefully soon. That’s the plan at least.
Thanks for this forum Mr Swaylock! Filled out most of my data, favourite boards etc. Since the redesign of the forum my old data was lost. Thanks for the reminder. Swaylocks rules!
Thanks Erik – looks like more and more people are filling out their info. It’s great to see the range of places people are visiting from!
Mike
Hi Mike,
Tried to update my account but location didn’t stick - some other stuff did though. Also got the “requuired field must be filled in” but no indication of what field that was. Thanks for the great site. Though I don’t post often it’s kept me trying new things and stoked on building boards.
Jong,
I think I may have fixed it. Please try it again and let me know if that worked.
Mike
I just filled mine out and the problem seems to be the location box with the google map - I got the ‘field required’ thing twice , and on the third attempt I just put my location in the bio box instead …
All good.
PC and Firefox here btw.
Hey, I think I really have gotten this fixed now. You want to try it one more time?
I’m glad I read this thread first. Mike, here’s what my results were:
I haven’t posted in months, and my info was filled out then.
My info was all blank, I’m sure this is no suprise since you have redone the profile stuff. The avatar I used before that I deleted several weeks ago was re-attached to my profile - so I just left it alone for now. I verified that it is being displayed now. I filled out some of the fields and it seemed to take the input fine. It is being displayed now also. The only bug I could see was my location. Well, probably not a bug, but by design. I tried to list a location “Hurricane Alley” but it wouldn’t save it probably because of the City, State format it required. Other than that, it seemed to work fine.
Thanks for all your hard work btw,
Ozzy
