Filler(ing) coat on re-do

Doing up a left to die 9'0 longboard - was a custom copy of the T&C K-star (thruster set up).

So far the deck is sorted - nice black resin tint - just tackiling the bottom. I sanded and sanded to rid the shocking resin and paint job - problem is i cant get it flat. I have added my clour into two of what were to be fill coats but i can still see dimples in this puppy everywhere.

Im not sure where to head with this bad boy, any advice? My thoughts were to either give it one more coat and sanded it and ride it, or make up a thick batch of q-cell and trowl it on and sand it back smooth (basically hide everything), it is still pretty light given it is eps.

Thoughts?

That board reminds me of a bad trip I had back in the 80’s.

Anyway… I’d say if you can’t sand it flat, just hit it with another hot coat and sand that flat with a hard pad. You just want to get it in the water, right?

just want it the water...but dont want it to create too much drag from a bumpy bottom...

Plan will be to make a q-cell / resin mix and add one more coat (with a yellow tint).

Sand it make a bit and then gloss it, pop some fins in, nd take the puppy for a walk...

Tried another filler coat with similar results. Still getting the million and seven marks camong through - so tommorow my plan is to either cut my losses and ride it or - two bust out the orbital sander and try and get it as smooth as possiable and glass another layer of cloth and sand it back to what hopefully will be alot flatter that what is now.

what do we people think?

Howzit bee, Sand the heck out of it and maybe til you see glass weave then do a fill coat and sand again and another fill oat. eventually you will get a smooth bottom. Another trick might be to just start filling the dips with lam resin til they are close to even with the rest of the bottom then do the fill coat then sand again. Just thinking of ways to make it work for you. But anyway you do it will take some tim and materials.Aloha,Kokua
