i came acros this board in ventura 5 years ago. since i have only very little info on its shaper/company. i was told that due to legal issues lightning bolt briefly changed thier name to star bolt, and that the shaper at one point lived in san diego. it came with cheap plastic fins that i have since replaced and now find that those are too big for me. im wondering if anyone knows of a set of twin fins that are for fin boxes that might work on a board like this one. its 5’10x21"x2.25"ish.
thanks in advance to anyone out there who na point me in the right direction for fins and shed some light as to who the shaper is.
hmmmm…my pictures are too big to upload. im a total rookie at this sort of thing. i can send pictures to those interested via email. or perhaps someone can teach me a thing or two about computer savvyness.
Ron Roush? There’s one I haven’t heard in a while. He shaped for Local Motion over here for a while. I want to say the mid '80s to early '90s, but don’t quite me on that. A very talented shapeer, according to the younger Quigg, who knows a bit about what it means to shape a board. Roush had a reputation for being able to copy boards very well. Shaped all kinds of boards and was fairly prodigous in his time here. Don’t know where he is or what he’s doing now, though. I belive he is originally from Florida? Nice enough guy. Lost one arm in some auto accident in France, I believe around '90 or so. That’s all I’ve got. I’m sure someone here has more for ya.
Poor Ron is from my home town. Drinking problem and once really good shaper. I realize folks make their own lives and problems, but I feel for the guy. Ron tale: I used to run all the contest in my area…at the end of the season we brought in Kelly Slater, Jeff Booth and Tom Carroll to give out trophies at a place called Seville Quarter. At the end of the night…Ron almost gets arrested for pissing right on the giant window for all to see ( the long window is pretty much where everyone sits…so they all got a full view). Typical old Pensacola party crowd.
