Fin box retrofit

Just tidying things up for you Waveslider…

Just hit reply at the top of the message, no need to start new threads, Oh and welcome to Swaylocks…

BTW, I accidentally deleted image no 7, you’ll have to upload again…sorry…

Hey, I guess it would help if I would’ve read your reply before I just posted again. Thanks. Anyways I’m going have to make the rest of the pictures smaller that’ll take me awhile. I’ll try to get the rest in by saturday.

Nice shots. The one with the little cloth cup is missing.

Let me know if you guys would like to see the pics for the FCS plugs on a fish.

These pictures to me show how futures claims of the lightest fin box should be questioned. Look how much longer the future box is compared to the probox. Extra material equals extra weight. Looking at some of the other pictures, seeing the probox plugs put in the empty holes to add more lost area back into the empty space is also an eye opener.

I think it’s clear that FCS, Futures and many of the other systems were designed and distributed by promoters or industry guys for wobbly plastic fins…while probox was designed by a fin guy to work mostly with fiberglass fins. The early fin box systems including FCS don’t seem to be made for peformance enhancement at all, but so you can ship a box of boards better or travel. They do appear to be trying to add that to their systems now, but probox appears to have thought most of it out and solved most of it.

Look at the cloth inside the routed out area of the probox system. Great shots.

Solosurfer thought the inline pics would help with your post, cool glass layer install before boxes go in.

I didn’t explain well enough what I meant on the claims of futures.

Longer box. Thicker fin base and more fin in the box because of a deeper (3/4’') base. All in all. when you add them together…I don’t see how they can be lighter since they are made from similar material as other fin boxes.

Also…they used to claim their front lock down was superior method and why we should buy them. Now they are selling their new boxes with claims of adjustability and side screws so they can take FCS.

We did a thread awhile ago on fin box systems. I wonder why the two leading fin systems are still in the lead outside of the marketing and head start?

Seems to me Lokbox and Probox should be picking up market share soon.

Ok, I know nobody asked to see FCS to Probox retrofit but I thought it would be an interesting option to replacing a broken plug or to change the way a board felt.
