My fin box apparently got WIDER after i glassed it up. I put the longboard fin in the box before i glassed the 10 1/2" finbox and it was nice and snug. Took it out after it set. finished up the board and when i put the fin back in, it had wiggle room!!! What went wrong??? This is my first complete board so im pretty discouraged by this last detail. And another thing; the foam on the deck, over the finbox, puffed up too and delammed at the stringer. Related?? What can i do about this? What to do/ not to do next time??? Thanks in advance you guys
Sounds like the resin got Muy Caliente! Too much cat, or too much space around the box, allowing thicker layer of resin. I’ve not seen what you have described, but can’t think of any other reason for the condition.
Hi -
I think Bill is right. It got hot. As it cooled down, it shrunk.
Are you using EPS and epoxy?
Epoxy loves to heat up when it sits in a puddle. A number of us have found that out the hard way. I’m pretty sure there have been a few EPS melt downs around here.

Yep.
