fin help needed? cutaway advise

im thinking of a wingnut cutaway, for my hpd takayama 9’4" beach break it has glass-on side bites about 4" of tail rocker, i think 13 1/5" tail, 4 to 5 in nose rocker on a 17 1/2" nose w/ concave, hard down rails, double concave through squash tail,it has a standard rainbow 7" fin ,the board is around 19 lbs. it noserides good , but will not turn sharp. i want a fin that will turn loose, but still nose ride, ive got my eye on the wingnut cutawat 7 inch, is this to small? please help-- i wiegh about 130 and surf small “knee to chest” beachbreaks in fla

Hey Skippy, A wingnut cutaway will work fine for you but the 7" may be a little short to hold you in nose riding on a 9’4". The 8" should be fine though. I think you’ll be happy with the way it works. I have the same fin at 9.0" on my 10’0" single for small waves and it works just fine. It keeps the tail nice and free when you have you weight back there but holds in fine when I step forward. I doesn’t have much drive though. There are other templates that’ll keep you loose at slow speeds and give more drive down the line ask Greg Hunt.

I’m generally not into cutaway fins, but recently tried the Halcyon Luxe and was very pleased with the results. Still need to get it on an 8’6", which is what it was design for, but so far it really rips.
