Just shaped my first board (8’6" x 22 1/4" x 2 5/8") and its close to being ready to glass. I was thinking of putting the FCS G5 kit on it. I’m curious about where to place the fins relative to the tail? My tail taper seems to have come out a bit narrow and I’m worried about clustering the fins too close together. Should I go with a single fin setup instead?
The blank is an 8’10" S. It has a good bit of rocker, which is what I was looking for and I stayed pretty true to the blank rocker profile.
I am a beginner surfer with lots of skateboard and snowboard experience.
No matter what rail box fin system you decide on as far as I’m concerned you can’t beat the options you give yourself by putting a full sized Bahne Box in the center. You can do so much more with it than you can with anything else it ain’t funny.
Whole heartly agree with Halycon on using a large Bahne center box.
For sides, in your position, I’d try riding it with the just the single for a while and then add them at a later date - that is after you’ve found your riding style on the board, which may help define where the sides would more compliment your surfing style.
