Hi, i just shaped a 6’4"x18.5"x2.25" shortboard, does anyone know how I can find out where a good place to place the fins would be. (I know on the bottom of the board!)thanks nick

(I know on the bottom of the board!)thanks>>> nick A good place to start is 4" and 11-1/2" from tail to trailing edge of fin. Toe the side fins in so that the point at the stringer just past the nose and try between 5 and 7 degrees cant.
thanks for the help, any idea about width from the stringer on the side fins?
i measure 1 1/4" in from the rail edge on one side and place the trailing edge there. then measure the other side from the stringer the same as the first. that way you’re fins will be symmetrical even if you’re rail lines aren’t(!) perfectly even. i set my trailing fins around 3 1/2" from tail and sides about 11 1/2".
thanks for your help bruce, good call on the rails!, I think mine are pretty close though Nick>>> i measure 1 1/4" in from the rail edge on one side and place the > trailing edge there. then measure the other side from the stringer the > same as the first. that way you’re fins will be symmetrical even if you’re > rail lines aren’t(!) perfectly even. i set my trailing fins around 3 > 1/2" from tail and sides about 11 1/2".
