Yesterday i finished up putting in futuresboxes on a fish that i shaped. This moring i woke up and was headed out out for a surf to realise that i had put my boxes in backward. After my initial anger at myself for being an idiot i had an idea that maybe i could modify a cheap fin set to go in backwards with a dremmel tool or file. Any thoughts or other suggestions?
I’ve done the same thing! Except I put only one box in backwards on a 3 fin setup. I put a new box in. Maybe try with backwards fins first, just for the experience?
Modding them to fit is probably doable but tedious. Also since futures have the cant in the fins, wouldn’t all your fins can inwards?
Just an idea … could you run a sharp knife along the edge of the box to break the bond? Then, carefully drill a series of holes in the box, and cross hatch between the holes with a knife or drill bit type sanding attachment to free up and remove the box and resin attached … then, clean up the hole and reinstall?
Modifying some fins will mean you only have thise fins for that board, so no performance tweaks unless you want to make up several sets of fins.
