Fin size to tab ratio?

Hi Just a quick question.

I want to start making some different sets for fins for my board, which is a 7’8 and currently has tri fin set up using Ha Probox.

The fin tab is the same thickness as the FCS tabs. I know that FCS don’t make single fins for a reason, and the stresses around the tabs are considerable. I don’t want to mess with the current fin system.

My question is what would be the maximum fin size or area that I could play with before I started having problems with fins breaking/pulling out, or damaging the boxes.

I want to experiment with something a bit different, any ideas.

Cheers.

It looks like this is somewhat unique as a 3 component kit (box + insert + fin). Much is going to depend on the materials used for each component. I suspect that the only reliable source of data is going to be the Pro Box Hawaii people themselves. Their web site seems to invite questions from experimenters, why not get your information straight from the horse’s mouth?
