Fin system options....

So I want to install a fin system on this new 7’0" that I’m doing, and I want to be able to use it on all my non-longboards. I’m totally lost on which one to go with though…Probably most important to me is ease of installation. If I have to buy some special jig or something, then so be it, but I want the boxes to be easy to install and as clean as possible, and last a long time (See Mandala’s boards for example). Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

Let’s see

Easy to install

Comes out clean

Lasts a long time

No special tools

Would you like it to do the dishes and walk the dog also? Ha ha! Seriously though tenover, your asking for something I don’t think is available, at least not yet anyways.

If it goes in easy, it usually comes back out easy.

If you want it to come out clean, get the proper tools.

If you want it to last, use one that’s glassed over(not the easiest to install).

If you like The Mandala boards, it’s called “Lokbox”.

Howzit tenover, What ever system you choose will probably work just fine, just remember that proper installation is the key.Aloha,Kokua

JJR- I didn’t say “No special tools”, in fact I think I said “I don’t mind spending a little extra on a good jig if that’s what it takes”…Ok then, thanks for the help.

I was actually hoping Mandala used the Lokbox, as you’re local, and I’d be stoked to support your(?) company. Can you shoot me an email or PM and tell me what I’d need? Thanks…

Thanks Tenover, was just having a little fun with ya! Like Kokua said, it’s all in the install. Your in del mar right? Check your P.M.

futures is a good system, its glassed over. You can buy the jig which comes with a router, or you can install it with out the jig. Im not sure how much it cost online but at fiberglass hawaii its like $140-$160, I forgot the exact price. If not Ive heard lokbox is good too, it was one of the systems Ive looked at. Just look on the internet at the systems. I went through the same problem a few months ago and finally decieded on futures for a few reasons. Its easy for me to obtain the boxes, good foils on there fins, Ive had enough FCS plugs blow on me for stupid reasons and I couldnt find the other fin systems that Ive looked at in hawaii for some reason.

Anyone know offhand what the max fin cant you can install with FCS plugs is?

Howzit Skeletor, I have one shaper that has had me set FCS fins at 10 degrees and I have another one in the shop that gets the same setting. Aloha,Kokua
