I have a question pertaining to the final layer of glass on the top. Is it a good idea or a bad idea to glass the final layer (second top layer) with sanding resin ?? Plus or minus, your 2 cents is greatly appreciated. Thanx …
I would glass both top lams together. The bottom layer of the top lam i’d cut to the rail, the top layer would wrap around the rails. I’d glass both together. In your case i would not use sanding resin though. Good luck.

Laminate both top layers at the same time ??? My skill /confidence level isn’t that high yet. I already have one layer on the bottom and one layer on the top. I’m getting ready to to put down the final layer, and was just wondering what would be the pitfalls on using that technique, or would there be any at all. Can you please elaborate on why you wouldn’t use sanding resin to laminate the final layer of glass. Thanx …
Basically there isn’t any need to use sanding resin in the laminating process. There is a possibility that the added wax in the sanding agent could make the bond with the first layer weaker. Once both lams have curred you can then hot coat the board with your sanding resin, then sand, polish etc. Hope this helps.

Howzit Shaka, The bottom line is the hot coat won't stick to the sanded resin lamination. Next time don't be afraid to lam both layers of glass on the deck at the same time, it's not that hard. This is a case where spending time with a experienced glasser would be an asset since they would never even think of glassing the layers separately. Aloha,Kokua
