I might have to get one after all!
Yep, that is definately a concept...self-propelled tow-in.
'Cept maybe the launch should be tandem, so as not to have abandoned SUP's right to conk innocent bystanders on the head...
A remarkable approach...that guy's got a free-mind.
Josh
Did you see at 51 seconds in he runs that guy over? haha… so whilst his sup is loose decapitating inocent bystanders he’s taking out the leftovers on the ironing board…
Yeah not to discredit him in any way…be good if South Narrabeen was looking like that tomorrow too…damn this spring weather on the east coast.
Would an elastic long leech and a good anchor help with the oceansteamer on the loose?
Great for crowds, boards with no fins!
i hope you are kidding. that is about the most irresponsible use of an SUP i've seen yet.i'm wondering if the guy can even surf-ya know, paddle out and into waves then stand up and go.i know those ironng boards are hard to paddle, but what he's doing is pretty stupid in my opinion....
what a dick
If he did that at my local, we'd be usin' his dreads as a toilet brush later that morning.
And the merry go round continues. Cue the benny hill music.
Yeah it’s a weird one that clip. I’m torn between admiring his amazing work on the alaia, and heaping scorn on him for bailing a gondola like that!
agreed…it would be interesting to see if his system would work at one of the “slabs” that have appeared in the various surf publications…
The interesting thing is that a hollow and fast DOH tube can be ridden on a board with no rocker, rail shape , foil, bouyancy or fins.
Sure his turns are flat, but hes getting shacked on a stumpy alaia, and thats pretty amazing.
Are we adding things to design that we have to design out (compensating design- i.e. flatten the rocker but then other elements need to be altered to loosen the board up again.) in order to make them perform as well as a basic alaia ?
5years ago this video would have blown everyones mind.
500+ years ago everyone’s minds would have been blown by** ****VIDEO!!**
That level of finless surfing was probably commonplace.
