B Barnfield made me do it. He pushed me over the edge.
Oh boy. Why did I wait this long to get a Milwaukee? Paid $190 for a 6068. Weighs about 1/4 lb more than the 5540, but its 0 to 6000 rpm and more HP and amps. Only $10 more cost. And it weighs less than my Harborfreight. Oops. Wasn’t supposed to admit I had one of those. Well, I don’t anymore.
Test drove it yesterday. Its everything a man could want. In a tool. Electric tool. Never mind.

Curious ? Greg, which HF sander did you get ? the 11 amper ? I have the old two speeders and the 6.5 amp varible job. Both are about half the wt. of a M. Herb
OK, Mr “I know what a HarborFrieght weighs”. It took a while but I found a scale and weighed the Harbor Freight sander. It weighs 7.2 pounds, compared to my new Milwaukee 6078 at 9.25 pounds. So, technically, you are right.
But! But, not satisfied with the superficiality of your data, I did a little experiment to actually test the weights using real weight testing equipment in the controlled environment of my garage. And I wore my wifes white lab coat to ensure accuracy. I found (and this is very interesting) that if you will place your right finger tip on the scale and the same time you are weighing the sander, the sander weighs more. In fact, it weighs way more than the Milwaukee. I’m saying a full 1.5 pounds more!!! AHA!!
So, while you are technically correct, and I freely admit it, (and I am a little flumexed that you knew the weight of a Harbor Freight off the top of your head and called me on it), I hope I have shown you conclusively that sometimes being right is not enough in the face of a well reasoned argument by people with test equipment wearing lab coats.
Can I have an amen from the Sways Weights and Measurements Board?
Congratulations! You have entered the “Realm”. Go Easy! No “burn thrus” allowed.
Oh! I almost forgot. Amen!
