Well, it’s my first time in this forum of discussion, so let introduce myself. I’m Jefferson lopes, a brazilian shaper with more than 20 years of experience and around of 3000 totally handshaped boards. latelly I have been worried about fins’ setup. The last 10 years, we’ve observed a silent revolution in surfboard design. Bottom contours, flatenned rockers, dommed decks, thin rails, and all sort of experiences. My question is related to how to setup the fins in wider boards for big guys. For instance, in a standard shortboard like a 5’10’’ 11”x181/4”x14”, I’m using 31/2”x11” to setup the fins. How shoud I manage to setup fins in an expanded one, for example: 5’10’’ 12”x191/2”x15”, without losing drive? Is there any sort of table for configuring fins in different kind of designs available?
The little search box at the top has an overwhelming amount of info - this thread I’m linking to is on fin placement for a big guy thruster.
