I use a 6’1" 18 1/2" 2 3/8" I weight 160 pounds normally surf mush waves between 2 to 4’. I have this board since october. Today was the first day I surfed with this board in waves between 4 to 5’ in very good conditions. I notice that when I do the bottom turn one of my favarite move the board was not responding very well. In one wave I do the bottom turn the board turn and I fall over the bottom of the board. I need to change my fins? This is the only I suspect that is wrong with the surfbaord. What dimesions should have the fins? Thanks
its possibly that its your fins but it could be the fact that you arent used to surfing waves of quality. i too suffer from surfing bad waves most of the time and getting waves of size and power not very often, cocoa beach fl. chances are this is the first time you have surfed this board in good waves seeing as you just recently got it. boards really perform differently in changing conditions. most of the time you are able to gradually adjust to the bigger and better factors. most everybody suffers from this. there are few peolpe that can go from tearing up knee high mush to 6 foot glass in one wave without having to adjust.
also all though i doubt it from your dim’s you board might not be suited for waves of that size and power. gove the board some time and you will adjust.
and if the fins are the problem its probably becasue most boards that come with removable fins of that size are really small and designed for people smaller then you. i am no expert in fins for little chips but there are people who can stear you in the right direction.
