Has anybody experience of the Firewire longboards, or knows anybody who has?
How do they ride ?
Do they Noseride ?

I rode one of Bert’s a couple years ago. I thought it rode great but then I like light boards so… Nose ride was fine too. It’s a different ride for sure. For high performance their spectacular but for old school someone else will have to make that judgment.
Greg if you hook it up I can get at least two pure classical style longboarders to make that judgement.
Just brought the 9’ rounded pin to take to the Maldives. So far so good, I didn’t buy it to nose ride I bought it because it’s got a great outline and it’s turned out to be one of the best “modern” long boards I’ve ridden. The other reason is it only weights about 5.5 kilos and that makes air travel a little easier (traveling with 2 longish boards)

In that I sell FireWire surfboards, my input may seem suspect… but…
So far everyone who has bought one from us has been more than happy. A few days ago a young longboarder who is a 2 time champ in his home Country demoed a 9’0" x 23" one. His father has been buying him purely hand made and custom boards from all the best guys he could get one from. This kid is pretty big but was riding fairly narrow boards for his size and had been convinced that this was necessary for “contemporary performance” as that is a lot of what is promoted it seems.
He loved the board he demoed and bought the same model. His dad was quite surprised as he hadn’t seen him so excited about any board before, so much so in fact that he almost bought a second one for a back up!
The North Shore isn’t known so much for longboarding but our sales have still been strong mostly due to the positive responses people have had to the FireWire boards both short and long. As a custom board builder, the whole FireWire thing constantly amazes me. Rarely have I seen a surf product that so regularly pleases customers. I realize full well that many here on Swaylocks are not fans of companies like FireWire but so far, in my experience, customers are way happy and that’s what is most important.
So suspect or not… that’s my report

Aloha Bill – A while back my wife was over on a short trip and you were kind enough to help her out with a demo Longboard. She came back enthusiastic about the firewire’s lightness and responsiveness in the small surf at Haleiwa. She sends her warm regards and thanks for the help, as she knew you were busy at the time.
Aloha~

Those are great shots…that first one in particular should be used by FW for their advertising. Your wife knows how to put it on a rail Epac. Great stuff. My wife’s out surfing at the moment I’ll show her those shots when she gets home.
That it’s I’m sold.
Thanks everybody for your input.
Epac - Thats a fantastic shot of your wife loading the rail
I’m salivating now, If only some of the shop owners would return my calls!
Can you tell me how much you are retailing the Firewire longboards for? In NZ it’s about $950 USD for Firewire shortboard…
whoops, meant to edit previous post to change "company" to COUNTRY!
Great pics of Sally!!

Nice photos of your wife ePac
Looks like she was having a good time. Tell her I’m sorry I wasn’t available to work with her more personally. I think I was stuck at home working on my big landscaping project. This thing has eaten up all my free time.
But is close to done now.

Our Prices are about the same. If you can’t find one locally, I can send you one! At Raging Isle we do return phone calls. Got 6 lines coming in so that no one gets neglected or a busy signal.
Thanks for offering but I was just curious to see if NZ was on a different tier pricing.
Hey Bill -
Being as you’re selling FW’s - I’ve been trying to find some more info on the 6 10 quad they make - ie width 12" from nose and tail + rocker?
Could you possibly enlighten me? - as emails to the co. on the issue have elicited no response whatsoever!
Cheers
(PS sorry for hijacking thread Burnsie !!! BTW haven’t you got enough boards by now?)
I was in a raging philosophical debate with myself over the past 2 weeks. Go longboarding & get more waves with easy paddling on a firewire longboard - or - Carve my life away on a Pavel classic fish.
The Pavel won !

I guess I’ll be shaping a compsand longboard this summer…
Know the internal struggle well Burnsie.
I’ve decidied to surf longboard in crowded/small conditions and shortboard when it’s good and worth it. I recently saw myself on vid surfing a fish - + I just ain’t got the style or something…it feels good but hmm…look good…not so much!
I’m sure you’ll tell us how the Pavel goes - looks beautiful!
Had the same debate … now post knee surgury the debate seems to have been decided. Until further notice I have no choice … longboards.
Seems to be a common dilemma. Been longboarding 80% of the time for the last 4yrs only riding the shorter ones on bigger and hollow days. The last 3mths it’s pumped nearly all the time and the longboards have only been out on the rare days. Currently making a 6’9"x 21.75"x 2.75" wide ass diamond quad. The thrill is back , hope it keeps pumping.
Cheers

Yer it’s a long haul back mate! I had major knee reconstruction 3 years ago and am still rehabbing!
Hasn’t stopped me surfing though, I was only riding long boards before my operation and now I’m riding a 7’2” Simon Anderson “Mollusc” a 9’ Fire wire rounded pin and a couple of boards in-between that I made myself – the stoke is back big-time!!!
Absolutely love the Fire Wire by the way!!
