I am shaping a 5’5 x 19 3/8 x 2 3/8. I made a template, traced to blank, cut out the outline and trued it up, brought the thickness(foil) down to 1/8’’ shy of the final thickness, then cut in a single concave to a vee. The single starts at about where my front foot would go and the vee starts at front fins and continues out the tail. This is where my problem begins at the transition where the single meets the vee. The rail line dips or drops at this point… Hmmmm, where did i go wrong?? Hopefully you can tell by the pictures… I don’t want to cut in my rail bands until i fix this or matbe dont have to fix it? I will send pics of the whole buildind process once i figure out this problem…
…no major problem there; that s what a V should look; I mean, siding view you obtain 3 rocker lines (2 from one side).
Check from tail and rising the shape with the hand and moving it a bit side by side, if you have an abrupt change in those perimeter lines pass again the planer in those spots; if not it s ok.
Then flat out the V in the last 3 inches to the tail.
-by the way, a V bottom can be from 3 different forms:
.flat panels
.rolled (convex) panels
.a bit concave panels
Thanks for the info reverb. It just looked a little awkward to me. I’m going to make some minor changes after siting it i see a couple bumps… Just dont want to rush it… I’ll be stoked if i can just get speed and some good carving turns! Thats the goal at least
