I will be adding some pictures so that I might be able to get some great suggestions from the swaylock community. So here are the basics: 9"6" x 23 x 3. The board has a 3 delam spots oner on the deck, one on the rail and one bottom. The deck other than the delam spot is actually in surprisingly good shape but the board definitly has wear. I would like to make this my first full retoration project. It is not an amazing find or an antique, but it is like I said my first Full Restoration and I would like to bring it back to perfect. I am looking for any and all steps to the process. So I literally need step 1 to finish. I am ecxited to start my first resto and my first project that I plan to share with swaylocks! Thank you in advance to all of the community and I can’t wait to get some pictures and get started!
Are you familiar with the Board Lady (http://www.boardlady.com/repairmenu.htm)?
Also, check out http://davidplattsurfboardrestorations.blogspot.com/ and http://www2.swaylocks.com/forums/dbss-long-board-restoration
What is the weight of the board? What is the target weight upon completion? What look are you going for - a "restored" look, or a "like new" look (two very different things)? What is your experience in board building, finishing, or repairing?
Looking forward to pics, and a bit more info. Wish you the best with your project!
Hi thanks for the websites. I havn’t been to them before. I was just reading the restoration on swaylocks which looks like a cool project. This board I was looking to get it into a “like New” condition. I have taken a board building class before and I personally do mostly repairs. That is why I am trying to jump into a larger project and to be honest I really wanted a 9’6" or longer board to add to the collection but something with a personal touch. My shaping skills are ok as is my glassing. I am excited to get some pictures and get them posted. Thanks for the sites again and I hope to have some progress posted soon.
