First board

Yet another first board post!

Quite pleased with the final result for my first shape, a steep learning curve.

The fish is 6’x 22 1/2 x 2 3/4 and now just have to get round to glassing it.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on this website, without swaylocks i would have been lost for sure!

Looking good, uber! How you going to laminate it? Color? Fins? etc. Mike

Cheers rooster!

6oz clear lam (would love to give a swirl a try but will probably leave that to the next one!)

some coloured resin pins (is it best to do these before or after hot coat?)

Home made ply keel fins (8 1/2 x 5 with a bit of toe and cant)

and probably a good deal of blood sweat and swearing.

Just finished my Logo too check it out.

thats a pro looking logo…no matter how bad the board looks in the end, THAT logo will sell it (im a graphic design student…asim guessing you are/were?)

your shape looks clean, really nice for a first board! nice template, no lumps, no gouges…very very nice!

Cheers for the Aloha surferguy.

yep I studied design. Actually going to start up a little T company and will probably keep the logo for that too.

clean shape. cool logo. good on you mate.

pinlines go after the hotcoat & before the glosscoat.

keep us posted on your progress.

You got me beat lol, my first board has had a ton of problems. Once I get the thing done it will be good, but I’m going to have to paint between the glass and the hot coat, because the thing is UGLY

Just finished laminating the board and have got a ton of mistakes.

I failed to get enough resin over the laps on the bottom lam and was left with some super ugly cutlaps.

The top lam went a lot better (more resin, less catalyst, and remembering to do the laps from the middle helped!)

but i still have dry spots, lumpy places (and on the board) and even a small space missing glass!

I can safely say I learned a huge amount and have the now have a huge amount of respect for glassers out there.
