I just finished laminating my first board. its drying at the moment then ill sand and hotcoat. I managed to hit 3 problems… all delt with as best as I could. first, i got air bubbles (of course) but managed to push most of them out. second, some of the glass rippled and it was too dry to completely flaten them out, but i will sand them down and treat them as ding repair. third, i forgot to sand down the lap before doin my next layer of glass (o well, ill just blend it during hot coat). I have realised everything I did wrong and there was one minor snag, whenever you paint a board, make sure some idiot doesnt put a bottle of water based paint among the shelf of acrylic paint. somehow, one waterbased managed to sneak in, so i had a tiny bit of bleed in my paint job (nothing major). Still beyond me how I missed not seeing the label for that one bottle. Ill post pics once I can find the cord that connects my camera to my computer. Thanks for your help and thanks for the earlier reassurance. one quick question. any ideas if I can hot coat w/o having additive F? I have the same epoxy resin I used to lam the board, can I just use that? (I know it will be hard as hell to sand but wondering if it is do-able).
just sand the next day after hotcoating and you should be fine.
Thanks… ill do that
