Hope this works. Thanks to “uncle Dale.” First chance to share the stoke. Made the board and wave. Thanks to all sways, esp. GregL for the advice and sweet, sweet “glue.” Thanks to MarkS for the MvG… “full round house!?!” Ha! Thanks to Ambrose Curry III for the Aloha, Thanks to KeithM, even though this board doesn’t have carbon. Thanks to TJD for the brotherhood. Thanks to TomD for the fin advice too. If I forgot anyone else who helped, sorry. Just remember… STOKE!!! TaylorO
Ps. Blow it up to get a glimps of my sweet metal flake paint job on the nose! Ha!
Ha ahahahah… Don’t you wonder why this is my first pic in years… Thanks to Andrew “the Aussie” Ross, who’s doing whear gene research up here at Oregon State, for the picture… I’d love to get hooked up w/“Uncle Dale” again, who did the sweet montouge of my other board.
I can tell you some things. 10’x22.5"x2.75", 12"nose/tail, wide point @ 2.5" back cL (won’t talk about rocker, as I use the “true” apex for my own ease of lay out and design) sufice to say @ 8" nose and 4" tail. fairly deep single to double concave, semi standard tri set up w/those bitchin’ RedX adjustables… gottem tweeked just so… and of course, the secret ingrediant… MVG!
And the constuction… you may not want to know. 7/8" clear cedar stringer, tail to 8’ mark, 3" pink XPS, “nose” 2’, 2" blue XPS (Yes, now you should all stop laughing and wipe the spital off your screens… I have often claimed to be a “cheap ass master” - [you shoulda seen the looks when I put that on the rear end of my custom snow board pants! But, that’s another story])
Used full 2x4oz Sglass top and bottom 1/3 length tail patch on bottom - from tail-and 2/3 length on deck. And I did it all with ease w/my RR epoxy (I think fast is what Greg recomended) small batches = minimal waste, plenty working time. Double leash loop, “stop” pad just ahead of center fin, @ 70/30 rails. And some of Dale’s secret non-slip “Volcum 115” (I think), but I had to wax where my suit/chest was rubbing it off a bit and I got to lazy to redo it…
And - last but not lest 3 color metal flake - hot rod rainbow nose job… Red-purple-blue… Ha!
Ok - that’s about it, hope to show close up some day -Thanks for asking. TaylorO
“owl at maalaea”… Ambrose, you really know how to make a guy feel good. As for “water temperature is obviously tropical”… Only when my coffee warms up my suit! Ha!
I had those pictures of Owl on my wall as a kid, and was fortunate enough to surf Maalaea once under good conditions… Dreams come true! Thanks for sharing the stoke everybody
TaylorO
