well, i have been a long time lurker, and have really enjoyed reading the topics and posts...
I just finished my first board, and i thought i would share
supposed to be 5'10 x 22-1/4 x 3 17" tail 17-1/4 nose
but ended up 5'11" x 22-1/2" x 3 18-3/8 tail 18-3/8 nose
double concave midsection.. i was supposed to v the tail, but i didnt take out enough foam so it is hardly noticable
first board shaped with nothing more than a hacksaw, some drywall sandpaper, and a builders square..
josh miller (local shaper) glassed and installed fin and leash plug.. it looks like it will be some fun.. i am excited, it was a really good experience. i really look foward to the next one, except this time i will invest in the proper tools.. here are a few pics
It’ll definitely surf. It looks tons better than my first effort.
One thing about shaping is that whether you stick with it or not it will make you much more savvy about what other people are doing with their boards and about what you want out of a board.
I agree, will do a full build next go… I was going to do this one, but I just bought a fixxer upper house and getting married in a month… A whole lot going on…
I am interested to see how this one rides, then I can tweek as necessary… I now have a whole new respect for shapers, it takes a lot of work and artistry to get it right…
