first resin swirl (epoxy)

I was kind of surprised at how easy it was and started thinking its going to look like crap but wow it didn’t. Now i understand what its mean the first color to hit the foam wins (i can be a bit of a slow learner). I would like to thank every one that posted something or another about resin swirls and TSaunders for help.

o and i posted a picture of a keel fin i made because i know chipfish would want to see

edit: i’m not done or even close i still have to laminate the deck hotcoat fins and maybe a gloss coat

Good job, lookong sick…

this dble concave looks so deep…or is it just a visual effect?

Just one thing thought : did you deliberately leave the laps dry and didn’t wrap them around the rail to do it later? if yes why?

I’m just a novice myself and haven’t evven finish my first board so I’m not familiar with every technique…

Cheers

its a bit off both, the concaves go from flat (nose)single(up to were the front foot is), double (slightly deeper) then out behind the fins (yet to be glassed on) it goes a bit deeper

about the laps well i ran out of resin and at the same time decided to just deal with that when i glass the deck (same resin swirl). So i’m ether going to use a pin line or i’m going to put some color just on the rails like a huge pin line but covering the rails

euskadi what type of board are you making and is it eps xps or pu?

hope that helps some

hey skinny,

keep us posted on your work…

I’m stoked with the result so far and can’t wait to have a go at it

update: i just finished laminating the deck and here some pictures of it

Skiny,

Looks great. The colors will really pop after the H/C and gloss. Look forward to seeing the finished product.

Troy

thanks man i couldn’t have done this with out your advice

just hot coated the deck and going to glass the fins on tonight

here a picture

Damn bro, looks awesome, especially for a first. I like the deck more, but that’s subjective. I’ll have to try my hand at it someday…

JSS

Cool.

Looks real good!

So did you just mix some blue resin in your lam resin, stir slightly, then pour on and squeegee as normal??

thanks guys

beerfan- i mixed two batches of resin one blue and one white and poured the blue into the white then just squeegeed like normal (but i didn’t wipe the squeegee and i would recommend that you do that after each pull of the squeegee)
