Herb, I am wanting to try my hand at a retro style fish. I weight about 205 and am not sure what dimensions would work for me. Can you go with a longer fish? Also where do you put your wide point, in front of center, behind center, at center etc… Also are you keeping your foil thick throughout the board for good flotation? Any help would be great (from anybody else too) Thanks, P.V.

I’m definatley not a master and Herb could probably tell you way more than I could. However, I bought an Old fish from Encinitas Surfboards a few years ago and the thing went insane. Two key features I think to its fast, drawn out flow were the wide point and foil. The wide point was quite a few inches in front of center and the foil was thickest at the nose and had a relatively smooth transition tapering down to the swallowed tail. This thing would fly, but it had to be driven off the front foot or with a foward style stance. alex

Have you ever built a fish beyond 7’? G&S makes a “Magic Fish” that I think they can take all the way to 8’. But I don’t know if this gets out of the realm of a true retro style fish. Thanks, P.V.
Yes,to sizes over 10 feet,and 25" wide.GENERALLY,these as guys that weigh over 300lbs.Herb.
