I read the title and I was scared Benny…

Me too Josh…!!!

You gonna cut these beuties!!?

SACRILEDGE! Dont do it!

cut up WHAT now? the girls and i do that all the time

peta

After a closer look at the pics, maybe it isn’t a bad idea.

Jimmy.

NNNNNNOOOOOO…

Don’t do it Chip…

They were meant to glass on…

Don’t be cruel to the creator…

the foil , hicksy …LOOK at the FOIL , maaaate !!!

They have to be refoiled , whether glassons , or tabbed ! [And , they are too small to use as twin keels only]

…I want to make fins that WORK in my boards , not sitting on a mantlepiece somewhere , not getting used .

I am DEFINATELY appreciative of fatty’s excellent work in glueing up the "sunburst’ , that’s why I re-templated them to include that . And , I got his permission / the “okay” to do it.

This should be a really good challenge , to have a practical foil , and have them as bonzer3 runners .

Then , I can use them ! …in at least both of my “fishes” , as well as possibly in my ‘stubbie’ , too ! [stay tubed / tuned …

cheers !

ben

They look symmetrical in foilshape now, you gonna keep that or go 80-20 foil? You planning to just grind the backs of to thickness or strip the glassing first? They look nice and thick…

huh huhh… the wozzie chainsaw finmassacre…

hi ‘Dave’

hopefully I can foil the outside edge only , the ‘inside edge’ is kinda flat , at the moment . But if they ‘need’ to be thinner , I’ll think about double foiling them then , yes. [ All my bonzer runners are single foiled , so far]

…Either way , once they are cut out , I’m hoping the glass will peel off easily . We shall see , eh ?

cheers

 ben

That’s it dude, I aint ever talking to you again, and I’m telling my mum!

Cut the glass clean off and re shape, foil etc. It’s all good mate. Like I said originally, you’ll have some sanding and glassing to do on them. I’ll glue up some blanks for you and send em over when I get chance, I’ll have a look for some nice woods over the next week see what I can come up with, thinking cocobola?? oak and cherry would be nice.

Don’t forget (like that’s likely) to send pics.

too kind !

I butcher your fins , and you STILL want to send more . It MUST be true that the cold climate kills a few brain cells eh ? [or maybe that’s other things that do that ?]

jokes of course .

just check with the kidnappers at the post office , the old guy who works there [mr. schnell fenster , wasn’t it?] ,

and that the aliens aren’t tracking your every movement , before venturing anywhere near that post office again eh mate ?

I mean , after all, who would there be left there to counsel the counsellor , if anything were to happen to our good pal robustbuttocksman ?

cheeeers

ben

[seriously , though , Jase …please first check with the P.O. how much it would weigh / cost , to send two 9x6" rectangles of wood through the post to the Great South Land , before going into debt [both of us!]. Because , Plan B , as I mentioned previously … I could pay Shane here [a mile or two up the road from me here ] , to make a pair of “sunburst rectangular panels” for me …]

don’t do it ben! those keels look lovely as they are. bugger the foil theory! i’ve surfed parallel double foiled keels. they still work. they’re fun.

I’m glad that you think these look ok, but really Chip has the right idea for them, I glassed them in a real hurry and it aint good, the pics are hiding a multitude of sins.

THANKS for the vote of confidence , Jason !

…In the words of my surf buddy Michelle …

“I have a GRINDER , you know !” *

cheers

 ben
  • unfortunately , she won’t let me grind with her , in her shed , though .
