Fluff in the lam - not good

Hi all,

could anyone please help me with this one? I laminated my board over the last two days. when i laminated the deck (2x 200gr glass with epoxy, red opaque) I flipped too early for the cutlap - result: black fluff/fuzz in the lam from a cotton Shirt.

I tried rubbing it with alcohohol but couldn’t get rid of those black spots - there’s still some cotton in the weave. well, it looks worse than on the picture I guess:

it’s on the bottom of this board:

what should I do? wait till fully cured, sand a lot?

or hotcoat the bottom with opaque red to hide it?

time is also an issue as I need to have it finished in 6 days…

thanks for your input!!!

KM

I’d try to sand it out, as is most likely only in the surface material.

Use a razor blade straight up and down move side to side lightly until its gone.

best advice i can give you (not having made this mistake myself…yet)

is to PM Kokua if he doesn’t respond to this thread…

i know he pretty much only deals with PuPe but, i’ll bet he’s got some

super ninja Mac Guyver trick to fix it… he’s pretty much been there

done that in regards to EVERYTHING in glassing. really nice guy too.

Howzit Chris, Actually using a razor blade works really good but first I would see how much would come off by putting some good tacky tape on it and pulling it off, this should take off the loose fluff then use razor blade.Aloha,Kokua

hi chris, Kokua, boarddesign, nj_surfer,

thanks a lot for your help! it worked out ok, there are still some darker spots, but the rest of the tint is also far from being totally even, so I don’t worry that much… will go surfing next wednesday, probably Basque Country… the forecast is HUGE. makes me wonder if i even need the new fish I just shaped… well, maybe we’ll find i nice pointbreak

can’t wait!!!

so again, thank you, what a great forum!
