I have been reading the threads about making foam blanks from home centers EPS foam. I found EPS #1 and a blue foam called polystrene. I was wondering if Polystrene is considered a EPS, XPS, or XTR? And can I use it to make a decent surfboard? I’m living in Japan and searching like a madman for materials to make a surfboard. It’s hard I still can’t read Japanese. Any help would be cool! Thanks Da Cheetah
Polystyrene is polystyrene, whether EPS (expanded polystyrene) or XPS (extruded polystyrene). The blue stuff you’re talking about is XPS. It has been known to delam quite easily… But it can be used. No need to seal it before laminating.
Thanks Balsa!
PM Yoshio - He’s in Chiba (I think) but he’s up on materials.
