Found board on the side of the road

I just found a board on the side of the road but the only problem is that one of the fin boxes ripped out and there is a huge gap of missing foam!! How do I fill up the space?? it’s like 4 inches by 4 inches and is 1 inch and half deep it’s not smooth or square it’sa all torn up.

The way I would go about it is like this. Try and make the hole as smooth as you can, make it square, or round, or oval. Try and get the bottom of the hole as flat as you can, now go to your area shaper and pick up somes of the bones from his shaping. Cut a piece of foam to fit into the hole in the board. Make it so it sticks up a little. Use some supper glue. Glue the plug into the hole, don’t use a lot of glue it is not really there for much more then to hold it in place while you sand it down. Sand down the plug so it is even with the rest of the foam in the board. Mix up some Qcel and resin into a paste and fill all of the gaps, between the old foam and the new plug that you just put in. After it kicks off sand down the Qcel, and glass over the repair. Cut out the plugs for the new fin, or slot for the new fin box which ever.

Thanks I appreciate this!

If it wasn’t in the trash the first thing you might want to do is see if you can locate the owner. They might be looking for it. Just my opinion.

Art, two things, first off good call on trying to find the owner. #2 Bill said it was to blow up volliey balls.

"#2 Bill said it was to blow up volley balls. " You are correct. Fat Albert and the go-carts things that he did are my favorite.

Okay actually I found the board nailed to a random tree when I ripped it off it pulled a big chunk of foam along with leaving a good sized hole… so my question was how do I fill it?

what if it was a shrine to some kid who got hit by a car?

Well, I’d say he was way off his line, then. Even if it was a shrine, I’m sure the kid would want the board in the water fulfilling its destiny.

You sure it wasn’t a flower from a surfboard tree? Some of the people I sell boards to think the price is a little to high. If it is a surfboard tree would you please go back and propagate some cuttings and I will gladly pay for them and the postage. Then I could just sell the cuttings and not get dusty(not that I mind). Maybe after some cross breeding from everyone around the world we could have longboard trees, funshape trees, fish trees(with out the smell of course), swallowtail trees, etc… Think of the possibilities. No EPA regulations, bitchy neighbors. Just drive to Lowes or Home Depot for some fertilizer and water.
